Numbered poker chip sets are extremely helpful in avoiding any possible mistakes or misunderstandings during your poker game.  Poker Chips with denominations are clearly marked and no player will be in a position to make an erroneous betting error.

Picking the right chip set for many can be overly complicated.  We try and make it as simple as possible by helping you to understand the mistakes made by others and correcting inaccurate advice from others.

You'll often find many websites suggest some chips are much better than others.  In reality its far more important to determine what you need than letting others tell you which poker chips are the best, either in value or best outright.

How many chips do I need?

The first thing you should think about is how many chips you need.  As a poker professional myself, I find more is so much better.  Its just so much more fun to move around a large number of chips.  Personally I prefer to be able to push in a big stack of chips(or maybe several stacks) when making a bet.  Others just find it difficult to work with a large number of chips and would prefer just to throw in a handful of chips, or maybe just one chip and announce the bet amount.  So maybe they throw in a single $100 chip and state a bet of $70.  It all depends on your poker experience and mindset.  Experienced players and beginning players often prefer a lot of chips.  Experienced players are use to working with lots of chips in front of them.  Beginning players tend to like the fun of having big stacks in front of them, even if it takes them a little longer to stack and count.  It often re-creates the visons of players in the world series of poker sitting with large stacks of chips in front of them.

People in the middle often settle for less chips.  Just remember that you'll often have to make change for others when using less chips, which personally I find annoying.  I'd rather have everyone has enough chips for the bets they would like to make then someone tossing in a $1000 chip for a $200 bet and expecting someone to help to break the chip up and make change.

Its all about personal preference.  Do not let anyone tell you what poker chip set you want.

The very best chips money can buy are Paulson Poker Chips.  They are extremely expensive however, generally not seen for under $400 for a 500 chip set.  At around a dollar a chip, these chips are generally out of most players price range.  If money is not a concern these are the very best chips you'll find.  Check the difference between Paulson poker chip sets and others. When dealing with a vendor, always check if they are willing to send you samples and be careful with those who give you excuses such as its not cost effective,  or our sets are prepackage etc.  Quality vendors who are proud of their stock should always have an option to send samples. This may not be 100% true in every case, but use this statement as a solid guideline.  Scrutinize and thoroughly inspect stockists before making a purchases if samples are not available.
